Greece - Sarti, Athos, Meteora, Thassos

Sithonia - the middle peninsula of three on Halkidiki, is less developed than Kassandra, and is mainly visited for its natural beauty, with many hidden beaches tucked under mountains cliffs, some of which are only traversable by foot. The eastern part, where is Sarti, is particularly rich in vegetation, while the western side, where is Neos Marmaras, has large areas of vineyards and rocky outcrops of unusual and rather breathtaking formations. In close proximity to Sarti is Kavourotripes also known as "Orange beach", probably the best beach in this area, and Platanitsi auto camp.
Athos - sometimes referred to as Mt. Athos (or Agios Oros which means “The Holy Mountain”), the name of the 2033m mountain close to the southern tip of the peninsula, and wonderful view on this peak is from Sarti beaches, has had the status of an autonomous state for over 1000 years. Famous for its ancient monasteries, which are either built on impressive natural sites such as cliffs or in sheltered bays with sandy beaches. There are 20 monasteries. All females, including female animals, are forbidden to pass beyond Ouranoupolis into the monks’ territory.
Thassos - the crystal clear sea surrounds the island and there are beautiful beaches all around with clean, shallow waters, ideal for swimming and I would like to recommend Alyki, Psili Ammos, Breeze, Potos and Trypiti. Theologos inland village with old houses, the picturesque squares and the clean running water, decorate the streets and create a marvellous picture. Theologos is also famous for the taverns and their specialties: goat on the spit and fine red wine. Personal best are strange formations where seawater penetrates into the shore – “The Swimming Pool” - Giola.
Meteora is one of the most spectacular places to visit in Greece and I don’t know which amazed me more, marvel of the nature in a shape of gigantic rocks or marvel of man who created monasteries on such spectacular place. After the visit to two of monasteries: Metamorphosis and Roussanou we have completely understood the meaning of word Meteora “Hovering in the air”.
