Slovenia – Lake Bled and Bohinj, Most na Soci, Tolmin visited in 2006 The wishing bell story “According to the tale of Bled, the golden bell ordered by the lady of the castle widow Polyxena von Kreigh in the memory of her husband Hartmann killed by robbers around the year 1500, was sunk in the lake of Bled before it reached the island. The second bell, cast in bronze in Padova in 1534, belongs to the church of St. Mary on the island and today fulfils the wishes of the visitors.” |

Lake Bled The image of Bled with its castle, lake and island in the middle of the lake, are sights by which Bled is famous all over the world. Lake Bled is renowned for its exceptional beauty. Bled Castle attracts visitors not only with its age and picturesque architecture but also for the unforgettable view of the lake and the wider area of Gorenjska and the Julian Alps. Lake Bohinj Bohinj is one of the most beautiful valleys in the heart of the Julian Alps in Triglav National Park. High mountains, green forests, wonderful mountain meadows and hayfields with their natural beauties, cultural and historical monuments offer a pleasant stay for hikers, cyclist to Bohinj. An immense beauty interlaces in the colourful carpet, woven of flowers and sweet scent of nature. Vogel is a well known Alpine ski resort, offering you a wonderful experience of skiing, snowboarding and relaxing in the winter idyll and offers extraordinary panoramic views over the Julian Alps with Triglav highest peak in Slovenia, the Lower Bohinj Mountains and the Bohinj basin. I would like to recommend first tourist boat trip and followed with ride to the Vogel by cable car, and for us it has been amazing experience because on the lake surface we had been wearing T-shirts with short sleeves and on the Vogel we had winter jackets, at that moment there has been more than a meter of snow although it has been beginning of May. The car train is the most comfortable connection between the Primorska (The Soca Valley) and Gorenjska region and we used it to travel from Bohinjska Bistrica on a Lake Bohinj side to the Most na Soci on the Soca river side. Tolmin The chute on the Tolminka River is the lowest point (180 m) in Triglav National Park and the longest chute in Slovenia and among the deepest. The junction of the gorges of the Tolminka and Zadlascica rivers with their chutes is a unique in Slovenia. The chute of the Tolminka River is about two hundred meters long and five to ten meters wide. Please, feel free to look at my photo album about visit to Slovenia. |
